School stone carving workshop a hit
Last week I worked in Wyggeston and Queen Elizabeth I College in Leicester running a stone carving course for 18 pupils studying for their Art A-Levels. The kids were brilliant and worked none stop for 2 days on their creations. They were carving Ancaster and Portland Limestone, both good carving stones for beginners allowing them to remove plenty of material in a short space of time and enabling them to include lots of detail. The final pieces varied tremendously from figurative carvings to abstract pieces. At the end of the 2 days all of the works were exhibited in their gallery and will form part of their course work.
Further details of other projects that I have carried out in schools can be found on this website.
