To commemorate the extraordinary life of Sir Bobby Robson, the Football Association have declared today as Sir Bobby Robson Day as it is 5 years since his death. The Sir Bobby Robson Foundation is still going strong today and continues to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for cancer research and treatment. Needless to say, I was extremely honoured to have been asked to create a memorial to the former England, Newcastle United and Barcelona manager which formed the focal point of the Sir Bobby Robson Memorial Garden in Newcastle City Centre. The piece formed a timeline of his career, from his playing days at Fulham, showing the trophies that he won as a club manager, describing his England career before eventually establishing the Foundation before his death. The piece also had a staggering list of footballers names carved across the top, players who he had played alongside or managed including greats such as Bobby Charlton, Johnny Haynes, Gary Linekar and Paul Gascoigne. Aside for being recognised for his achievements in over 50 years of involvement in football, Sir Bobby was a true gentleman will always be fondly remembered. It is an amazing tribute to the man that he is still held in such high esteem 5 years since years death.
