The sculpture commission for the entrance to the Veolia site in Lumley Street in Sheffield was finally installed this week after more than 2 years in the pipeline. The sandstone sculpture has a number of intricately carved wheels representing the importance of the transport links around the site including the road, rail and canal networks. The site is now the main depot for their waste recycling in Sheffield and one of the wheels from their trucks is carved in detail including the nuts and valve. The sculpture forms the end piece to an existing wall which is due to be keyed in early next week. I will post pictures of the site when it is all tidied up.
