I have been carrying out some intricate carving work creating a new plaque for the Almshouses in Melbourne in Derbyshire. The plaque replaces the previous one which was installed in the 1890’s to commemorate the opening of the building commissioned by Thomas Cook.
The intricate carving on the plaque has taken a number of days to complete and there is an added inscription in the centre. The stone is Woodkirk sandstone and it will be installed in the coming weeks when it is complete.
I have also completed the carving of this slate house plaque. The lettering incorporates some sprouting leaves and is inspired by a biro sketch of the property carried out by the owner.
