The Naval Service Memorial was dedicated yesterday by Prince Michael of Kent in front of around 2500 people at the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire. It was a fantastic occasion that was marked by a fly past, a band, over 100 standards and 1500 veterans. It is the culmination of over a year of hard work since being commissioned by the Royal Naval Association who commissioned the work to mark their 60th anniversary celebrations. Fortunately the weather stayed fair for the veterans, just a shame the sun did not appear to project the shadows onto the terrace, definitely worth a visit another time to see those.

Here are some links and images to a day that I will always fondly remember.

And here is how the shadows will look in good light. Later in the year, the shadows will stretch all the way across the granite creating a pool of blue. Can’t wait.
