A few years back, I made a series of 10 sculptures for a park in Newbiggin by the Sea in Northumberland. One of the pieces was this sculpture of an eager dog with his stick. It is carved from Derbyshire Sandstone and weighs around 2 tonnes. Some time after it was installed, some building work took place around the area where the sculpture was sited and the area was fenced off. Alas when the fences were removed, the sculpture it seems had gone missing too. The recent discovery of the theft has sparked a campaign in Newbiggin to re-locate the large stone artwork with posters appearing in shop windows and the local paper running a story. Needless to say, if you have seen this sculpture recently, it is likley that it is somewhere that it should’nt be, so please get in touch.
