Carved stone roses installed
Driving through Leicestershire the other day, it was great to see that the carved stone roses that I carved for a new housing development had been installed. I worked on the 25 Rearsby Roses carvings early last year but they have only recently been fitted into the brickwork in the new houses in Rearsby. The development is on the site of the former Rearsby Roses garden centre. The roses represent 25 different varieties of British roses, reflecting the history of the site which was once one of the most highly regarded rose nurseries in the country. The carvings were in buff and red sandstones and in Portland Limestone.
